China's star anise production is expected to reach 1.5 million tons in 2024. China is the world's largest producer of raw star anise, and the number of raw star anise planted accounts for about a quarter of the global market. The main domestic production areas include Guangxi and Yunnan, of which Guangxi's star anise planting area and output account for 85% and 97% of the country respectively, and its output accounts for more than 70% of the world.


Main production areas and output distribution
Guangxi: Guangxi is the largest star anise production area in the country, with an annual output of about 1.5 million tons, accounting for 97% of the country's total output. The main production areas are Fangchenggang, Yulin, Wuzhou, etc.
Yunnan: Yunnan's star anise planting area is about 1 million mu, mainly distributed in Funing, Guangnan, Xichou and other places, with an annual output of about 152,000 tons.
